Seeking volunteers to help with doctoral research regarding improving how to start insider threat programs in the private sector

I am a graduate student working on my Doctorate of Computer Science at Colorado Technical University. I am in the 
research phase for finding best practices to begin an insider-threat program in the private sector.


There must be hundreds of recommendations for which components SHOULD be in an insider-threat program, but it is 
difficult to figure where to start. Most companies do not have a wheelbarrow of funds to start a program; they need to 
start, however.


The research question that is the basis of this study poses: “Is there a subset of existing best practices and 
recommendations that are most effective to use to form a new insider-threat program in the private sector?”


I would be grateful for assistance from people with experience working within insider-threat programs or setting up 
such security programs. I value your expertise and hope my research will help improve information assurance and 
security using the insights of experienced practitioners.


My research consists of individual interviews with persons experienced in insider-threat programs. Privacy and 
confidentiality are stringently protected during this process. This research is conducted under the supervision of 
senior Colorado Technical University faculty in compliance with Institutional Research Board requirements and complying 
with all federal laws governing human research. You will also receive a copy of the dissertation once it is approved 
and of academic papers resulting directly from this work.
