The University of Alaska is looking for a special individual to fill its
Chief Security Officer position in Fairbanks, Alaska. Serving locations
above the Arctic Circle to the Gulf of Alaska this position comes with -40
F in the winter, +80 F in the summer, days of night, nights of day, the

A chief security officer (CSO) for the University of Alaska manages
operational security service development and deployment in addition to
investigative workloads associated with network, system, application
security and forensic activities. This individual serves as technical
advisor to management and is capable of working with both IT and non-IT
peers. A bachelor's degree in a technical field and relevant information
security industry certification are required as well as demonstrated
information security experience and management abilities. This position
translates strategic plans into tactical security programs and initiatives
of value to the university community. Curiosity, a proactive approach and
process orientation are characteristics valued in a CSO.
