Contract employees and network access

We're starting to dabble in partnering/contracting with commercial companies to teach some of our continuing education 
classes.  To the point that they are bringing their own furniture and occupying our office space.

Does anyone allow non-institution personnel to join your Active Directory domain when they furnish their own computer 
so they can access file shares and other resources?  Any licensing issues to be concerned about? (e.g. Microsoft, ...)
