Hi Daniel, Have you had a look at the recent ECAR publication: "The Career of an IT Security Officer in Higher Ed". http://www.educause.edu/Resources/TheCareeroftheITSecurityOffice/174273 It is a good study of our field with a specific focus on the ISO. It doesn't directly address your question, but contains some discussion on how IT security is handled as it relates to the ISO. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Brian Basgen Information Security Pima Community College Office: 520-206-4873 -----Original Message----- From: The EDUCAUSE Security Constituent Group Listserv [mailto:SECURITY () LISTSERV EDUCAUSE EDU] On Behalf Of Daniel Bennett Sent: Wednesday, July 22, 2009 10:03 AM To: SECURITY () LISTSERV EDUCAUSE EDU Subject: [SECURITY] Information Security at your Institution Hello All, I am conducting some research on how Institutions have organized their "IT Security" departments. I have the following questions: 1. How many students and employees are at your institution? 2. How many units/departments are dedicated to IT Security (Risk Assessments, System & Network Security, Compliance, etc)? 3. How many full-time and part-time employees are there in your security units? 4. Do you have any cross departmental committees or units that handle security matters? Thank you in advance for your responses. Once I receive this information I will send a compiled summary to the list.
