it is somewhat similar, but does have a different pattern matching algorithm
that hopefully generates fewer fps and runs faster (it is designed to find
large numbers of SSNs in a a file)..  it is also offers a single java app as
opposed to a few different apps for each client and offers both CLI/GUI
capabilities so that you can perform scripted scans, etc..

a colleague at University of Colorado at Boulder (Brad Judy) evaluated
several similar tools and provided the following matrix (attached)..

give it a try.. see if you like it..  it is also open source if you would
like to collaborate with us.. if you have feature requests, please send them
to security () utexas edu..
