I am seeing on google large numbers of domain names that are in the form number.randomStuff.info (2606.pdydwh.info) that appear to have content from our site, but redirect to a search site of other spam type content. If you do a google search ("lcc.edu" site:.info), I see about 486 matching records. I looked up some other schools in Michigan and found the same thing. The domains appear to be registered in Poland. Has anyone dealt with this before? I can block on-campus access, but it does nothing for the prospective student that is looking for a landscape or automotive degree while at home.
It appears that many of these sites are being hosted by theplanet.com. I checked DNS for several of the sites returned by your search, as well as several of the sites returned by a search for our domain name. Every one that I checked was hosted on theplanet.com. -- Paul Russell, Senior Systems Administrator OIT Messaging Services Team University of Notre Dame prussell () nd edu
