Steve Gibson, maker of Spinrite and co-presenter of the Security Now!
podcast just release a podcast about TrueCrypt. Here is the link:

I haven't had a chance to review it so I can't speak to the content, but
other, not all, of the Security Now! podcasts have been pretty informative.

Jay

There's a commercial product from Utimaco which will encrypt an entire
drive and provides for key escrow procedures. This company has
supplied versions of its products to Lenovo for inclusion on
ThinkPads, and we believe they may be planning to integrat the
disk-encryption password with the Lenovo laptops' fingerprint
readers. Such a combination would provide whole-disk crypto with
relatively convenient means of unlocking it at each work session.

(this is not in any way an official endorsement, just an FYI about a
product of which I've become aware)

I'm researching standalone encryption utilities that can be used to
encrypt both files and directories on an internal hard drive of a
windows computer and also could be used to encrypt data on external
media such as flash drives and external usb drives.

Is it appropriate for me to mention or ask for feedback on this
security list for specific vendor products?

Thanks,

Harold
