As a side note, I was using Tenable's product today. It's pretty nice! Not the fastest on the market, but a nice product nonetheless. Really easy to use, which is my main thing, since I may have to teach other people how to use it.

Thanks for the plug! Which product were you using? NeWT, Nessus, NeVO,
Lighting, Thunder ... ? If it was NeWT, you should try NeVO. Once it
is set up, it monitors your traffic for new hosts, apps, vulnerabilities,
.etc. In front of a class B, this makes a big difference.

If you were using NeWT, there are lots of ways to optimize the time it
take to complete a scan. A lot of this is centered around port/host
discovery and how you select which plugins you want to launch. The host-based
checks that NeWT does for UNIX and Windows don't take much time at all either
if you have credentials.
