It is virtually always more practical to whitelist the allowed applications/protocols/etc than to try to blacklist the prohibited ones. The difference is what happens to "unknown/unrecognized". If you whitelist, it gets blocked until investigated and blessed. If you blacklist, it gets permitted until *detected* and investigated -- by which time considerable damage may already have been done. David Gillett
