Ok, I'm with you now. Unfortunately it doesn't look like lsof is supported on cygwin yet http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/PsTools.html psservice.exe & psfile.exe could be of some use, but I think finding out what it puts on the sacrificial box will be interesting.
