Hello, James Eppolito asked why I stated that "Computer Forensics" is a mis-noner and gramatically wrong. I will be using DFS in this as the term as this is the correct terminology/taxonomy. [DFS = Digital Forensic Science] The later is easy. First Computer is a noun and not an adjective. In the term computer forensics computer is being used as anadjective. Next Forensic is an adjective. Forensic Computing would be gramatically correct, but not the reverse. The former goes to both grammer (as above) and also to a little history. Many years ago before DFS was the flavour of the month many of the people who where known in the field got together and decided that it should be called DFS. These are people with real qualifications and experiance and who have actaually been into court. Another reason is the definition of computing. DFS includes many areas that expand past computers pre se. When you are talking about a subject designed for the law (and this is what forensic represents) you need to be a little anal about the taxonomy. Incident response - say what you like. DFS is first and formost about the legal system. This is whether or not you have anything to do with it personally. If this is not clear enough I will go into more detail?
