Security administration in large enterprises is very different from most medium sized companies is very different from government is very different from small business.

Operating systems are not really relevant in this context since the buyers are usually buying the application that does the administration, the provisioning process, the work flow mechanism, and the support package. It is a big product space, and almost all of the products run on Windows or Unix variants.

I am a graduate student at George Mason University obtaining my MS in Information Security and Assurance. What operating system is used more for security administration in the private sector versus the government sector? Pretty much I would like to know what operating system I should focus on if I wanted to pursue a government career in security or if I wanted to purse a career in the private sector. Thanks.
