Hi there,

Merry Christmas

I am no where myself a "security pro" but an engineer wanting to be one.

Any basic training should have
1. Networking Concepts, Administrations: tcp/ip, firewalls, nids,
snorts, sniffers, spoofing, DoS,DDoS etc etc
2. System OS Concepts, Administration: Windows Patching, security,
Unix/Linux,tools like lophtcrack
3. Little programming;-) Understanding Buffer overflows atleast in its
basic essence
4. Cryptography, Key/id Mgmt etc

This is just a small key things which I believe are necessary, U can
add a lot more.

Regards
Gautam

U can hire me though ;-)

Hi,
I was asked to prepare syllabus for security management, incident
handling, forensics analysis, intrusion detection etc., Th intention is
train an engineer to become a SECURITY engineer.

we know there are several certifications which are designed for this
purpose. I want from you with your security experience tell us what
should an BASIC course for security really requires.

If industry wants to recruit an engineer for its security needs what
type of experience they look for?

Note: Please dont relate my question with any certifications and be generic.

Thanks for any help,
-Ravi
