Hey all,

This is my first post, so I hope this is the right list!

Not sure about that, but I will try to answer anyway, because I feel
the need to... :)

How do you feel about using open source software as opposed to vendor-
supplied/licensed software? I'm talking about the general case rather than
specifics, about things like implementations of Secure Shell, security
scanners etc.

I only use OpenSource Software, not only because of the open source, but
also because I cannot afford to be up-to-date by buying a bunch of software
every month or to pay for newer updates from time to time.
And, oh, did I mention, that it is a VERY good feeling to see, that there
are a lot of people out there who think and feel the same as I do concerning
"Free as in Freedom". From time to time, if I can help spread my little
knowledge and help others out, I do my best to do that, and so the ball
keeps rollin, if you know what I mean.

If you have any experience of support issues with one or the other, I'd be
interested in hearing about them too.

There was no, absolutely NO problem I had which could not be solved by the
OpenSource Community one way or the other. Not that these problems only
concern OpenSource Software, also all these little or bigger problems with
Hardware or other O$ (you know..) could be solved by the community.
There are sure a lot of companies with prop Software and with good support,
but I also experienced that questions about their products got no response
or an "automated" one.

Many thanks

You're welcome
