Comcast != Single Entity (was: Comcast blocking IPSec traffic?)

And many of us have had good to very good results from Comcast.

Customer service is lame everywhere.

The old term YMMV comes to mind with a vengeance... Pretty much pick your
broadband and surf the web to read the horror stories about it - you'll run
screaming in terror back to dial up.

The mistake is thinking of Comcast as a single entity.

There are many different Comcast's ...

   There's the former @Home foot print, (improved|destroyed) by AT&T.
There's areas brought online by AT&T post @Home now owned by Comcast.
There's the former @Home footprint (improved|destroyed) by Comcast.
There's other systems Comcast has bought over the years (MediaOne, et
al).
There's the areas recently developed by Comcast.
There are old subscribers and new subscribers in those various areas,
which have different 'Comcasts'.

I'm sure there are other 'Comcasts'.

All of them have different policies, privileges, equipment, different
policies, different connectivity to the rest of the world, etc.

As a simple example, as a former AT&Tbi customer, I have a nntp news server
available to me. People in other footprints and people who signed up post
AT&Tbi - even on the same street as me, don't - they have GigaNews.

Just because something is true of your 'Comcast' doesn't tell me anything
about my 'Comcast'.

I've had many problems with Comcast, my connection has been lagging
horribly and is dropped frequently. I've contacted customer service and
supposedly they "improved connection quality". I'd recommend if you have
the option to go with another ISP.

Has any else noticed that Comcast seems to have
started to block ipsec traffic this morning around
10AM EDT? A number of our home VPN users experienced
complete loss of connectivity around this time. I just
wanted to see if anyone else noticed the same behavior
today... We just changed our configuration to work
      around the problem.
