Code Signing Certificate & Chat software

Hi, I am trying to replicate a chat server onto one of our development servers, to serve as a backup. The chat server runs on CISCO software and uses code signed applets. When running the interface on the live version, it asks if I want to install the software signed by Thawte. It asks this around 4 times for different cab files. I have most of the functionality working on the backup version, but when it reaches the stage where it should install the cab files, it asks it the first time and after I click "Yes, install", it just stops. I don't know much about code signing certificates for applications and was wondering if it stops responding, because it is a different IP address than the one signed with Thawte? I am not sure if I have explained my question as clearly as I would have liked, so please let me know if I missed out anything. Also, we might consider switching our chat tool with something else more cost effective. Does anyone have any recommendations for any cost effective chat software? We will mostly just need 1-on-1 chat sessions and might be required to monitor the chat sessions. TIA.
