I was thinking along the same lines when I saw the announcement. Cisco have a history of swallowing security vendors and the products disappearing. Although this is probably not that different from the failed acquisition by Checkpoint back in the day? In this particular case I think Cisco are making up for the lack of having any innovative security products (particularly IPS). The development of Snort would still be governed by the open source licence in use, though, surely? - -- Peter Bates Senior Information Security Officer Phone: +44(0)2076792049 Information Services Division Internal Ext: 32049 University College London London WC1E 6BT -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.13 (MingW32) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://www.enigmail.net/ iQEcBAEBAgAGBQJR7qVQAAoJELhVoVpEMS6RaUYH/10RtTdzoptNTfieFXaoflqs JoM4j5tGSE9WAwXi+nmebmxrUCNw7AJdFFE14/hbWsGBIJpdpAorpYARYxnqWUwk Buz02006tA/XrIqYOybg/eNGnwzlik5ZVMyhbO5thKdHA0sebGzdNNMv5jJMa8CX +ymV6SeS16EcymVZToWAB5WRM+Fx4o/iYLIKsArx1oqM0b+zXEmDtFXgVkw0OKcw 7sQR84dWfqWeO7SBo/AUqtCed8OaxIkP6yNTKMeK+mg+MUgPsyWNt1H08ORqAlVl buoBIoN8Syay+Dy1u5H2hjQraemB+XWzNhxDa3Rg4gyRc92iHp7gPOy9VhabRDc= =O3RW -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ See everything from the browser to the database with AppDynamics Get end-to-end visibility with application monitoring from AppDynamics Isolate bottlenecks and diagnose root cause in seconds.
