I think I've got the gist of what you are saying...what about the snort
tables?  Wont that be messed up if I just move the DB to a new directory?

/etc/rc.d/init.d/mysqld stop
mv /var/lib/mysql/snort /var/lib/mysql/snort-$SITENAME
/etc/rc.d/init.d/mysqld start
mysqladmin create snort
cat /tmp/snort.mysql| mysql snort
