Solution for the problem mentioned below is as follows: In snort-1.8.6/snort.c: comment the line number 245 which is "InitializeInterfaces();" The errors reported by syslog appears because snort tries to initialize the interface twice because of the function "InitializeInterfaces();" being called twice (For daemon mode).
Dear snort-users, I compiled snort 1.8.6 for IBM AIX 4.3.3 OS. It works in interactive mode. But if I try to start it in daemon mode using option "-D" in the command, it fails to start, reporting the following problem: syslog: Initializing daemon mode syslog: FATAL ERROR: ERROR: OpenPcap() device en0 open: recv_ack: bind error 0xd
But without -D option, everything works well. In Snort version 1.8.3, I didn't face this problem but on version 1.8.4, this problem existed. I didn't try version 1.8.5.
What is the solution for it?
