Solution for the problem mentioned below is as follows:

In snort-1.8.6/snort.c:
        comment the line number 245 which is "InitializeInterfaces();"

The errors reported by syslog appears because snort tries to initialize the
interface twice because of the function  "InitializeInterfaces();" being called
twice (For daemon mode).
