No referral link. just make an account. you do have to put a credit card
in there, and they charge a dollar to it to check it's valid. im not sure
if they refund that dollar but i haven't cared to check.

after that, go to the control panel and set up an instance. the free teirs
all have a star on them.

Thanks Allison,

If you have a referral link (if Amazon does that) please shoot me a link.

Thanks!

i just get an amazon box and point my namecheap-registered domains to
them. i get root on the box so i support whatever i want, and i get my own
IP.

amazon has a "free teir" that you can have for a year. it isn't suitable
for heavy use but its a small box with a dedicated ip and root. good stuff.

Anyone have a host suggestion? Preferably something that supports Django

I have been using PairNIC since abandoning GoDaddy because of SOPA and
the owner just generally being a disgusting human being. The advantage I
really liked about PairNIC is free private registration.

I second the gandi.net recommendation. I left godaddy a while back

I like gandi.net for domain registration, mostly because they allow
full bind zone file access if you let them host DNS for you.

I have no opinion on trademark registration.

Hi,

For a while, there was a backlash against GoDaddy due to SOPA
support.
What's the conventional wisdom now towards easy & cheap domain
registration?

Also, I want to register a trademark for a tagline. If anyone has
any tips
on that, please share!

Thanks,
Mike
