Doing some research on the WRT54G-TM, looks like its now flashable without
JTAGing it.Can these be set up as a drone? From what I've been reading its
the same as the GL.

Can you guys confirm this?

Thanks

Correct, a GUI isn't required for a drone, but i wasn't able to see
anything that looked like a wrt54G v5 could support a drone. The flash ram
and ram on it seem too small to do anything useful.

It supports DD-WRT atleast.

Well i was looking at the openwrt and didnt seem to have anything with a
gui for the micro edition.

Ideally what i wanted to do is try to set up a drone on one of these. The
more im reading and learning, seems like this unit i have the v5 won't be
able to do that.

Again, DD-WRT is just a fancy GUI on OpenWrt. Recently OpenWrt has
added a nice GUI using LuCI (http://luci.freifunk-halle.net/). Check
it
out!

All depends on what you want to do with the router...

Cheers,
Paul

I have the wrt54gl, which is the same thing with more memory to
install
an OS on it. But even if you dont install dd-wrt (which I did), the
hardware is still rock solid. DD-WRT just makes rock solid and very
flexible.

DD-WRT seemed to work pretty well on that platform if you want to
replace the factory firmware. They have a DD-WRT micro edition
that we
    covered in the book.
