Peter,

Nmap works fine on both my linux and win2k machines.

There seems to be a problem with XP pro.

I have the optional XP network firewall disabled.

Has anyone tested the Win32 version of nmap.exe on XP pro?

Thanks,

John

Hi,

Yes I had also tried -P0 (on www.google.com ) which only hangs,
but this is not the problem.

The problem I am seeing ( Host xxx appears to be down [for all xxx])
is only on XP and things work fine on Win2K.

Hmmmm, XP has a firewall built in. Can this be the cause ?

I only can ask questions because I do not run nmap with Windows.

Peter
