Got any reputable statistics to back that up?
Just because it was offered to me as an argument off-list, I'll share with you the following: http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:YnR2EMUph6sJ:www.consumer.gov/idtheft/pdf/gao-d02830t.pdf+identity+theft+illegal+aliens&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us I'm sure there are many things neither of us are aware of but watching the news on an occasional basis would have garnered you this knowledge at least. I've used this "car bought with your credit taken to Mexico" example on a couple of occasions now. Its not just one possibility I came up with on my own but is based on a real life story of some poor bastard in Minnesota (or something like that) who recently discovered he was living a dual credit life in Arizona (or something like that). When he caught on to it, and went to the authorities, his credit twin went back to Mexico - leaving him, naturally, with the bill(s). Its not just a possibility, it happens. Your SSN and mother's maiden name is so entrenched in the "security" of our financial institutions that it practically invites fraud. Illegal aliens, having NO legal way of getting the things they "need" while in this country (new car, house, etc.) are virtually forced to commit such crimes. On the other hand, if they entered the country legally all of the options we take for granted would also be offered to them and we would have the added benefit of knowing who they are, where they are and that they're not convicted felons in Mexico coming here to continue their criminal ways. I don't blame the illegals so much as I do our government. One of the government's most legitimate purposes is to protect our borders yet they fail miserably at doing it, at all levels of government, from local PDs to ICE. _______________________________________________ privacy mailing list privacy () whitestar linuxbox org http://www.whitestar.linuxbox.org/mailman/listinfo/privacy
