I've been in about 50 and have yet to see one.  I have seen reaction, but
more at a government (entity) level. But, never strike-back, it is usually
a response of the wire-cutter type.

Maybe the definition of "strike-back" includes blocking that host at a
router or firewall. I don't think most of us consider that "strike-back"
though.

I can't imagine that the legal departments of a single FORTUNE 500
firm would be so negligent as to bless such activity. Nor can
I imagine that anyone with a reasonable security background would
be so stupid. The only place that I've seen that (never at a
customer site) was in a particular hype-ridden article that was
promulgated based on an interview with a well-known industry
hypester.
