I use Facebook as a communications tool for policy announcements, Ben, and I think you make a good point in this threat that it can be used for other areas as well, including physical security. (Usually I buy "poster" which goes to the cornell.edu domain and is not expensive.) In addition to mobile device communications means via text messaging, I think that this route is reaching students where they are when they are on line.

Is anyone using Facebook or other social networking sites as a communications vehicle for security awareness messages? I saw a thread from September but I’m not aware of any updates. Has anyone made use of the targeted advertising available through Facebook Flyers?I would be interested in your experiences. We have 15,000+ RIT people registered on Facebook and I would like to explore its usefulness.Ben Woelk Information Security Office Rochester Institute of Technology Eastman Building, 01-3300 151 Lomb Memorial Drive Rochester, NY 14623 585-475-4122 fbwis () rit edu http://security.rit.edu/dsd_101.html
