we have and IT security manager who reports to the Director of IT, and
two analysts. This works well, Steve (the lucky manager) concentrates
on the communication at high levels of the organisation (read politics,
which he seems to enjoy :) and on policy allowing us techies to get on
with the real work ;) He also does a good job of getting us the
resources we need. There is enough work for another person but we can
live with what we have.

Within the central IT organisation we have been encouraging the various
groups to have at least one person who specialises in security as part
of their role.

Auckland has around 35,000 students.

If you all don't mind, how many of you have a dedicated, full-time IT Security office, where does it report, and how
is it staffed? This would not include those of you (and your staff) who wear security as one of two or more hats in
the org.
