Encrypting Data-in-Transit

Curious as to what everyone is using to encrypt "confidential" or "restricted" data-in-transit that is being sent: (1) to/from Windows PCs and WinServers -- via ftp and/or eMail, (2) to/from WinServers and WinServers -- via ftp, (3) to/from MVS (z/OS) mainframes and WinServers, and/or (4) to/from MVS (z/OS) mainframes and Linux Servers. On the other hand, if you've looked at encrypting such transmissions and decided otherwise, I'd love to hear your thoughts/findings. Thank you, Michael G.
