We don't block p2p at SU, but we throttle the outbound traffic to modem speeds. We have an incident response team that deals with all specific copyright issues ASAP. - Jenny Jenny S. We don't block p2p at IU. Students have a traffic ceiling that is applied to ALL of their network activities. Philosophically, we're not going to block stuff (not related to defending the network) especially legal applications. As we do with all of our technology services, we will deal with specific complaints/allegations of illegal or inappropriate use using p2p, which includes notifications from copyright owners. Of course, that means that we have to allow for that in our staffing and planning, and we've accepted and have done that. I'm wondering what other Universities are doing regarding P2P traffic on their student internet connections. We currently do not block P2P, we only throttle back bandwidth. Accordingly, we get a steady flow of copyright infringement notifications under the DMCA. We're discussing blocking all P2P traffic. Is anyone else doing that, or what are you doing, if anything, about P2P? Thanks in advance.
