So what's the legal angle on any of the thousands of people who mirrored the entire Sysinternals site when the MS acquisition was announced putting up the sources somewhere ?
Well, you are governed by the licence conditions under which you obtained the software. If you got it under the original licensing terms, those still apply, since they contain no provisions for assigns or successors nor for modification of terms at a later date. http://web.archive.org/web/20050323060844/http://www.sysinternals.com/licensin g.shtml However neither the old nor the new licences permit redistribution without purchasing a commercial license, so Gadi was right to hold off on mirroring it; it really doesn't look like we can do that. It's just plain wasteful when someone has something that they don't even want any more but they won't let anyone else have it just out of sheer meanness. cheers, DaveK -- Can't think of a witty .sigline today.... _______________________________________________ Dailydave mailing list Dailydave () lists immunitysec com http://lists.immunitysec.com/mailman/listinfo/dailydave
