Re: McAffee bought Foundstone!

While it is (marginally) entertaining to watch these two
shout at each other it should be noted that Foundstone
has had it's detractors off and on, over time,
and some Foundstone employee taking a class 9 hissy fit
on a mailing list doesn't actually add to the company's
rep. I'm not saying other companies don't have (alleged)
dings in the rep and I'm not saying some of the comments
floating around about Foundstone are anything other than
(alleged) but whining about it is unprofessional. I hope
that's not Foundstone company policy.

Security companies who pay people to bitch on security
lists are executing a debatable practice.

I didn't mean for my email to come off as hubris Erik.
I know foundstone has talented employees,
the Hacking Exposed books alone are proof of that.
I was just referring to the NTObjectives exodus when,
at the time, most of foundstone's talented software developers
left. I am sure you have rehired smart people since then.
Again I'm really not trying to rain on your parade Erik,
I understand how exciting it must be knowing that four
years of work is finally paying off and how nerve wracking it will be
for the next 60 days. I'm sure everyone will transition to McAfee
smoothly and this will work out best for everyone involved.

Please! Are you just making things up to entertain yourself on the
mailing list? Trying to find your first friend?

Could you throw rocks from any further Mr. Gmail Anonymous? Don't dare
anonymously assault the smart people who are working hard earning their damn
paychecks! Are you so great as to stand on high and criticize? Unless
this is from Halvar, David L or Aitel then your answer is no.

Again, as a non-founder but 4 year plus employee, your fabricated comments
like, "All their current sales engagements are pretty much lost at this
point" are laughable.

To anyone who actually paid attention to this anonymous post and has
concerns or doubts, please feel free to email or call me directly.

Well, there was one more thing...

Btw thothics (djuit), thanks for the valuable post. No, wait. My bad. Oh
yea, I forgot this email list was created to facilitate the exchange of
hurtful and worthless... No... Wait... Unmoderated lists were created in
hopes they would be self moderated to actually make them better than my SPAM
folder. Please take your negative politics elsewhere.

If you care to insult the hard working consultants and trainers of
Foundstone, please... No really... I beg you... Email me so I can set up a
place for us to meet and "talk" about the value of respect.

Unless the org is serious about how it assimalates new
cultures, now is a good time to start recruiting from
Foundstone. I'll bet most of the employees are pretty
pissed, meanwhile they can prolly get 10%-30% raises
out of this by jumping ship.

There was a huge falling out a while ago from FS and not many of the
smart technical staff were left. A lot of them went to competing
firms in the area. I would imagine that the sale was mostly for the
IP rights (look out NTice) of the scanning software.
As for managed services I'd imagine the current install base may stay
loyal for a while but anyone who was on the fence is about to switch
vendors. All their current sales engagements are pretty much lost at
this point. Who would want to purchase from someone who's future is
unknown?
