I've recently bee charged with customizing a policy to enable personal
devices(Cell Phones) to access corporate e-mail.

Given the fact that there is likely to be a degree of information that
I wouldn't want people to walk away with/ able to access in the event
that the device is stolen; I'm looking into 3rd party apps to be able
to wipe the device\ remove the corporate information.

Any ideas?

I've been keeping tabs on the progress of a similar effort at a
client.

Talk with Good Technology (as another poster mentioned). They have
sandboxing technology that enables a peaceful coexistence of a
corporate sub-world of a personal device (Apple's ipad/iphone and
Adnroid too) that has corporate control over the corporate portion.

I don't have first hand experience to impart on it (yet), but it seems
to be most often mentioned solution when Apple/Android are mentioned.

Blackberry as others have mentioned grew up in the Enterprise, and of
course, have very nice management tools of their own development.
Apple and Google however foisted their goodies on the populace first,
and are apparently leaning very hard on third parties to solve the
corporate management problems. :-)

Apple's engineer himself when he visited my client mentioned Good
among the number of third party management solutions available.
