You have described your infrastruture, but not your security systems in place.  It is hard to envision simplifing 
something that is unknown, and I suspect responses will be limited.  

So, do you have, say, multiple AV vendors (servers, workstations, maybe email filtering?).  Do you use seperate 
firewalls, IDS and VPN systems?  Do you have multiples of same?  Do you use one product to distribute patches and 
another to do general software distribution?  Do you have a still different system to check for patch compliance and/or 
vulnerability assessment?  Do you have Host IDS and integrity monitoring systems?  

There is a lot of complexity that could be there...  shed some light!
