Hi Emmanuel, All the suggestions provided so far are OK, but it must be much simpler just to: 1) at the boot prompt, type 'linux single' or 'linux 1', how to pass the parameter will depend on your boot loader (CLI or GUI LILO, GRUB, etc) 2) when at the bash prompt, type 'passwd' and change the root password to whatever you want 3) 'init 3' (or 'init 5') to go to normal mode without rebooting, if unsure 'reboot' Google will probably tell you 10000000 ways to achieve the same, next time use it. I've recently started to work in an Internet Cafe wich has a network of 10 Pc's running linux (Debian Woody). The thing is that the guy that was in charge of the network left without leaving the admin password cause he was fired, so now we can only access the computers with a regular user account. I have physical access to the computer and i can also access all hd's files using a LiveCD linux distribution. So, here's my question: Is there anyway to change the admin password and/or get the machine's control back? If not, Do i have to backup and reinstall linux on every box? Thanks for your help, Cheers!
