IIS 6.0 is far more secured than last versions of IIS! Nearly everything has been turned off by default.

safe and windows dont go together ... :)
Win2K SP3 without IIS sitting behind an industrial strength FW/IDS solution should be safe enough. If you are planning to run Active Directory, make sure it is on a separate network segment, properly isolated from the one connected to your intranet/internet.
