If you are talking about a solution for a corporate environment and if you have the budget for it, go with the cisco products, the main reason i say this is because you have the ability to get support from the Cisco staff. Granted you have OpenBSD mailing lists and what not, but if you have an OpenBSD firewall/VPN that is mission critical and something breaks you really don't have much instant support other than google and hope someone else has had the same problem before.
Just my 2c :) Danny On Friday, May 23, 2003, at 11:51 AM, Dana Rawson wrote:
After reading all the responses it is still not completely clear to me. Ihave gathered that OpenBSD would be more secure than Linux, and Cisco appears to be an industry leader. However, with all things being equal (i.e. experience level of securityadministrator, proper configuration, etc.) which firewall would be "most"secure and reliable? A) OpenBSD (non-ASIC) B) Cisco (ASIC)Next, taking into consideration VPN needs on each system, which would beconsidered "most" secure and reliable?
