OK, I'll bite too.  I know there is this Holy War between Linux and *BSD.
But a well configured firewall is a well configured firewall, whatever the
OS.  A lot of the Hardware Firewalls on the market run Linux kernels.

The firewall that's right for you is one you know how to configure and meets
the needs you need to fulfill.  To just say that X is a poor firewall is a
little on the ignorant side.

Bravo.  Like the OS wars, there is no "best" solution.  The "best" solution for you is the one that works best for you: 
if you like RedHat, a BSD solution is not likely to be your best solution, much less if you're a Windows Admin and 
somebody tells you that Checkpoint on Solaris is the way to go.

Security is a process and a mindset, not a cut-and-dried cookie cutter.  Your need for protection and technical fortes 
will almost guarantee you'll come up with a different solution than I would.  If it meets your needs, then it's a good 
solution: if it doesn't, you need to look further. . .
