Would it be feasible to enhance the Python support to match whatever we do
for Lua?

I believe Python support is rather dead at the moment for lack of people who
care to fix/maintain it. Someone would have to put in some time to get it
back into a working state before we start adding enhancements.

I would prefer to have Python support as well, but do not want to take
on the task of resurrecting it.

I would also like support in Lua/whatever for a file picker ... but
that might only require making the existing file selector object be
accessible from Lua/whatever.
