question about sniffing wireless IPOD conversations

I have a wireless laptop with Wireshark on it and an IPod on the same 
network. Both my laptop and the IPod use the same NetGear wireless 
device for the default gateway. When I start sniffing on my wireless 
adapter, the only packets I see coming/going from/to the IPod are 
multicasts from the IPod, I don't see any traffic to/from the Netgear 
device or to/from the Internet.

Why is it that I am unable to see all the traffic to/from the IPod device?
