Radar Detectors interfere with Texaco VSAT terminals?

Does anyone have any information on the recent 11ghz findings at ChevronTexaco Corp ?

The findings I am refering to are that radar detectors operating in the 11ghz band are interfering with "Very small aperture satelite terminals" or VSAT's . Here is a quote from David Heck (Texaco manager of marketing, legislative and regulatory affairs) as pulled from ComputerWorld magazine: "the frequency causes a disruption in the data flow, which can result in lost or incorrect sales and / or verification information" he also added he was concerned of the possibility tha "thieves could use these devices to steal motor fuel by simply activating a radar detector while fueling" to knock out a credit card transaction. Aparantly there are some "oscillators" in the radar devices that are causing the interference. The comment about activating a device during fueling to confuse the authorization process is what I am interested in particular.

This issue aparantly has the FCC interested in restricting radar emessions... they are expected to rule on these findings late this summer or early fall.

More details can be found on the Hughes Network division "PanAmSat"'s home page under this link http://www.panamsat.com/nl_images/monthly_update_may_2002.htm#jump3 The link is titled * PAS Seeks VSAT Customer Support on FCC/Radar Detector Issue <http://www.panamsat.com/nl_images/monthly_update_may_2002.htm#jump3> *
