I declined to let the 50 or so replies through to the list, I hope
people will forgive me. :)  I picked 2 or 3 that I thought handled it.

In short, yes I will sometimes let questions through to the list
even when I know what the answer is.  Just because something is
obvious to many of us, doesn't mean the poster shouldn't get
an answer.

(If you check the archives, you'll find me asking essentially the 
same question myself.)
