So far everyone I have talked to on an Intel box has had no issues?
Perhaps this is unique to Mandrake 8.0 running on PowerPC hardware?
This morning at work I tested my Mandrake 8.0 intel and had no result.

[root@linux /root]# X -version

XFree86 Version 4.0.3 / X Window System
(protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6400)
Release Date: 16 March 2001
If the server is older than 6-12 months, or if your card is
newer than the above date, look for a newer version before
        reporting problems. (See http://www.XFree86.Org/FAQ)
Operating System: Linux 2.4.1-20mdksmp i686 [ELF]
Module Loader present

-KF

At 06:59 23/09/01 -0400, you wrote:
xterm -display localhost:0 -name `perl -e 'print "A" x 9000'` should
also do it... again

tested it with
X 3.3.6a
X 4.0.3
and with gnome and sawfish
and with window maker

nothing happened! :)
