Hi Glen,

I brought up the subject on this mailing list in December 2008 and there
were a couple of options for concensus, but I'm afraid I dropped the ball
afterwards and didn't follow up.

application/pcap
application/pcap-capture
application/libpcap-capture

application/vnd.tcpdump.org-libpcap pcap cap dmp

I'm not sure I like the "vnd." tag for a Free file format, but the
paperwork is easier, isn't it? IIRC it was perhaps necessary to write
and publish an internet-draft in order to go for the non-"vnd." option.

In my case I was seeking to get this defined so that a web server which
emits packet captures could stamp them with something better than
application/octet-stream and have the user's browser open wireshark
when you clicked on the link.
