I don't know where do you want to go with snort as library but if you want snort uses It strong near It,

you should set up the snort.conf file fully from snort doc html for example It will have It own http program understand
with a snort.conf set up at http,

(snort.conf isn't always download with snort tarbal go to snort download then download a snort conf tarbal then rename
'mv snort29900-conf snort.conf')

If when you talk about snort a library you want a easy snort to download you can do 'apt-get install snort' it will
install easily snort

Subject: [Snort-users] snort as dynamic library

Hi,
I ‘ve just started using snort.
I’ve downloaded sources snort 2.9.14.1 and compiled.
I understood that snort run as a process.
Can i run snort as utility in my process ?
Can I create static/dynamic library from snort sources ?
If yes , what should I change in makefiles?
Thanks,
Michael.
