Is it possible to setup inline mode with 1 NIC ?

As titled, my linux machine have only 1 NIC, and my goal is to setup Snort in inline mode. 
I read this thread (http://web.archiveorange.com/archive/v/B99JWpGOIyYhwyPTSzW4) with a similar issue, but it is in 
2011, so I am hoping that there is a new method to do so currently..
