Re: Snort + barnyard2 + BASE

I compiled barnyard2 with debug support:
barnyard2-1.7-beta4]# ./configure --with-mysql --enable-debug && make &&
make install

and I set the debug variable:
# set | grep BARN
BARNYARD2_DEBUG=4294967295

Where do I find that debug output? Nothing is different on the screen.

No, it's not working.

Hmmmm ...

There is almost nothing in the mysql.log file. It logs when mysqld
starts and stops but when I start barnyard2, nothing is logged but, I
know that barnyard2 is connecting to mysql because if I change the
password to an incorrect one, barnyard fails to start.

I'm trying to figure out how to increase the logging.

If you want to enable verbose logging then similar to snort you can
compile with the "--enable-debug" option and run barnyard2 with the
environment variable "BARNYARD2_DEBUG" set to the appropriate level of
debugging. See debug.h for appropriate values.

There has been some significant core changes (the last of the core
changes expected) with the release of snort 2.8.5 which has made it into

the latest beta. I'll double check to ensure the mysql output has not
been inadvertently broken as a result.

Regards,
