IMO, the folks at Sourcefire should discontinue providing compiled binaries for snort. Providing the source code should be the priority and will eliminate problems like this. In addition, providing the source code is not biased at all. Like Richard said, too bad your OS didn't ship with a compiler and tools, mine did!


On a side note:

Marty and sourcefire folks, thank you for your YEARS of hard work on snort and thank you for providing it for FREE.
