Hi, All working now, thank you. Here's what I did: - Removed all snort files - Untarred the tar.gz - ./configure --with-mysql - make - make install - modified the database connection properties in snort.con to use 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost - /etc/init.d/snort start And now it works :-) Thank you again. Did you erased the old files before reinstalling the new version? Atentamente, Ing. Fernando D. Hi All, This is on a Mandrake 9.2 box, MySQL was installed from an RPM and is now being used for a couple of other things as well, now I compile snort-2.1.0 with ./configure --with-mysql, all goes well no errors, same for make, and make install. I modify the snort.conf file, and then check the file using: snort -c /etc/snort/snort.conf And then I get the error : database: compiled support for ( ) database: configured to use mysql database: 'mysql' support is not compiled into this build of snort ERROR: If this build of snort was obtained as a binary distribution (e.g., rpm, or Windows), then check for alternate builds that contains the necessary 'mysql' support. If this build of snort was compiled by you, then re-run the the ./configure script using the '--with-mysql' switch. For non-standard installations of a database, the '--with-mysql=DIR' syntax may need to be used to specify the base directory of the DB
install.
See the database documentation for cursory details (doc/README.database). Any help on this would be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance Kind Regards, Neil Fryer Neil Fryer Marimba Software UK Ltd 400 Thames Valley Park Drive Thames Valley Park Reading RG6 1PT United Kingdom Support Line: 08000 156155 ------------------------------------------------------- The SF.Net email is sponsored by EclipseCon 2004 Premiere Conference on Open Tools Development and Integration See the breadth of Eclipse activity.
