snort db update

Hello everyone,
I've a question about updating snort signatures. When I download and 
extracts the updated rules I've found nothing to update the 
postgresql database, so I've a rule that detect an attack but in the 
db the signature and sig_ref and reference contain no records about 
it.
Is there a way to update the db with the new 
rules/signature/reference?
