Hi Vince, the normal windowed interfaced for the network cards on RH called "neat" won't allow you to bring up a adapter without an IP address. The solution is to use the ifconfig command to bring the adapter up in promiscuous mode. Put your command in your rc.local file to ensure it is run each time the machine is booted. To learn how to use ifconfig - use the man command to get details eg man ifconfig if all else fails mail me off the list and I will take you though what you need to do.
