A couple of things that I can think of:

1) Did you look in the configure.log file in your snort directory?

2) What version of gcc are you using?
    #gcc --version

3) Is gcc in you path/Is gcc before cc in your path?

  Hi Brian :)

While executing the "configure" script it says that my compiler is not
able
to create executeables, but I've already installed the gcc package and
also a patchcluster (just to be sure I've everything ~ up to date)

  Something goes wrong here...

    Hi Daniel,

What error are you getting. I just got finished building snort on
Solaris 8, so I can help you out a little.

      Hi there :)

I have to get SNORT running on a Solaris 8, but it won't let me
install it
correct. In fact the installation goes wrong because it can't compile
executeables
as far as I can see ...

Anyone here who has done such a thing lately or know how I can figure
it out?

      help !! :)

      many thanks,
      Daniél
